Bioassays

Bioassays are an essential tool in the field of biology, used to measure the effects of intermolecular interactions at biochemical levels, or a biological entity on a living organism or cell.

Biochemical assays may measure the expression levels, post-translational modification of biological molecules, interactions between molecules using ELISA, Western Blot etc.

On the other hand, cell-based assays use living cells to measure the effects of a drug or compound on cell function. One common measure of a compound’s potency in a cell-based assay is its IC50, which is the concentration required to inhibit a specific biological process by 50%. Similarly, the EC50, or effective concentration 50%, measures the concentration at which a compound produces half of its maximum effect. In addition, viability assays are used to determine the number of viable cells in a sample, which is crucial in determining the cytotoxicity of a drug or compound. Overall, bioassays play a critical role in understanding the biological effects of various compounds, including those that may have therapeutic potential for treating diseases.

Our company provide different types of biochemical and cell-based assays.
